You heard me.

Both companies will be developing their own game. Capcom will be making Street Fighter x Tekken, which will be a 2-D fighter using the SF4 engine, while Namco will be making Tekken x Street Fighter, which will be a 3-D affair like, well, the Tekken games.

It's a tag team dealie, so the prospect of playing as a team of M. Bison and Bryan Fury is making me feel funny in my private area. Or, shit son, Dan and the Bear!

I have a friend who's a total Tekken fanboy and will love this. Gotta show this to him later today.

YES! Though I highly doubt they would have my favorite Tekken character in it.

So, basically, Capcom is rereleasing Street Fighter IV with some Tekken characters and Namco is rereleasing Tekken 6 with some Street Fighter characters.

If they were making this on the Tekken 5 engine, I'd be super hyped for it. As it is... Meh. We'll see where the path through development takes things.

That's like saying Soul Caliber 2 is Zelda related, doesn't mean a Zelda fan is going to like it. It's a Tekken game, it happens to have Street Fighter characters in it, but it's still a Tekken game.

As for the flip side of the coin: I don't really have much desire to play Tekken characters in a Street Fighter game. Unless it turns out to be really really fucking good I'm just going to stick with Super Street Fighter 4 once I finally get off my ass to go and get it.

I'm not a huge tekken guy, but I might give SF X Tekken a rent, but as was mentioned, I already have Super 4, and unless Dan's in this one, or at least maybe Sean, I probably won't buy it.

While it does look pretty awesome, it also looks like they're directly recycling a LOT from Street Fighter 4.

In fact, it just looks like SSF4 with Tekken characters in it.

Looks like. Aesthetically.

They're using the SSF4 engine and the same art team that worked on SSF4, so I'd say it was pretty much a given that the graphics would be similar... Damn, though, of all the stuff they could have imported from SSF4, they should have kept the old meters. Those new life bars are fantastically ugly.

They put in a new feature called "Pandora" which totally isn't a ripoff of X-Factor

Seriously though, unlike other "power up" meters in fighting games, this ones a little different. To active it, you must be at 25% health or less. You get unlimited super meter and a massive damage boost. However there is a catch. First, you have to sacrifice your partner. Second, it only lasts for ten seconds. If you fail to defeat your opponent in that time YOU lose.

Plus they confirmed that there will be 4 player fights and a scramble mode, which allows all 4 fighters to be on screen at once

One last bit. One big fear about this game is that it's just SSIV with Tekken characters in it. One thing that subverts this is the new combo system. Apparently they are using a system closer to Darkstalkers. Plus, as a tekken fan, I notive that they are trying to incorporate emphasis on juggling here. Also, the tekken fighters are different from street fighters. Tekken fighters, not having projectile attacks, have a larger pool of unique combos. In exchange, the street fighters can do aerial combos.

And that's pretty much it for now. Can't wait until this thing comes out and then bitch about it when it is re-released as Super Street Fighter x Ultimate Tekken: Money Edition 5 months later

In the Udon comic canon he does have the potential for it. He's just never actually used it.

A couple characters have remarked that he could become a warrior fueled by that killing intent. He also has a parody of the Shungokusatsu for a reason in the comics. The reason his killing intent never manifested is because Sagat saw his single-minded hatred while he was trying to avenge his father and decided to let Dan win so he wouldn't walk down that path.

For some reason I know more about Street Fighter canon than KoF. Not sure why, or even how.

Considering that Dan has the parody attack in some games, and it's been noted that he has fought with an intent to kill, or at least seriously injure before, and that the fight with Sagat is game canon as well as comic canon. It's very likely that he does, in fact, have the potential for it in the games, though it's never explicitly stated.

Apparently using THAT version of Mega Man in the game was all Inafune's idea and they were planning this about a year before he left. lol

I'm pretty excited about the inclusion of Cole, but I could care less about any of the other characters. Bad-Box-Art Mega Man and Robo-Pac-Man is pretty hilarious, though.

I'm just glad that Rufus is in this game.

I've been following this for a bit. Apparently this game is gonna have 49 characters total (not including the bonus fighters).

Some soirces have said that these might actually make it into the game or the super shiny ultra arcade edition

"Lupinko" confirmed it a while ago, but we've got Bison and Akuma officially confirmed for the game now. As well as Jin, Xiaoyu, and Ogre from the Tekken side.
