League of Legends Options

Kinda wondering if anyone besides me is playing this. As far as I get it, it's a mod of a mod for Warcraft 3 called Defense of the Ancients, neither of which I've played. Basically, you got two teams with up to five players each that pick one of about several dozen different characters (with more being added as it moves on) and try to get into the enemy's base to destroy their power generator. There's some plot going on outside the game with three nations fighting each other that way instead of actually engage in wars, but you don't have to put attention to that at all.

DOTA sort of kept WC3 alive for the longest time. Riot games decided to take the DOTA formula and create their own game which became League of legends. I haven't played it my self but many of my friends do, if it's anything like DOTA then the community hates noobs so they probably would hate me.

As far as I know, compared to DotA, LoL is supposed to be more noob-friendly. At least the game itself is. Can't say that about the people you meet when doing a random match...

I play it with some other people I know from time to time. I was never really that good at it, though it generally didn't piss me off, so that's fine.

So The Hutch and P Dot badgered me into downloading the game. My first match was not a pleasant experience; I was consistently at least two or three levels behind everyone else, and even though we won it took an entire soul-crushing hour of dieing a lot and listening to a bad Schwarzenegger impersonation.

Then, after more badgering (from YTB this time) I tried again, deciding to give in and pick a female character (look, it makes me feel like a creep okay?). And I actually had a lot of fun. Then I played another game using the same champion, and it was still fun (even if we lost because half the team was off Jungling leaving just myself and another player, both of us very squishy characters, to deal with the actual enemies). The lesson I learned is that I hate playing Sion.

So anyway my summoner name is ViashinoWizard let us fight computer-controlled dudes together on the internet.

Ah yes. I was going to create a general MOBA thread, but this is honestly the only MOBA I play.

I just freaking love this game. It's awesome. So awesome. The best part is every feature that effects gameplay is free in some way. Anything that can ONLY be bought with riot points effects gameplay in no way.

Already played these guys rather extensively on the EUW server, so that isn't a problem.

Twisted got nerfed recently, I believe.

They're all supposed to have fairly high learning curves. I guess it depends on which role you enjoy playing. If you're planning to buy the Gentleman skin, though, Cho'gath all the way.

Cho'Gath. He's easily the most fun champion I've ever played.

Cho'gath is fun, especially if you get the Gentleman Cho'gath skin (won't blame you if you don't, though, it is $15).

Indeed, though the first one is actually an alternate skin for the character (here's his normal design). I should mention the skin (Gentleman Cho'Gath) comes with unique dialogue. Normally his voice is distorted to sound more monstrous, but his Gentleman skin cuts greatly down on it, gives him a British accent and changes his subject matter from burning the earth and devouring all that live to gentlemanly stuff, including "Let us fight like gentlemen!" In both skins, he goes OMNOMNOM when he uses his ultimate ability, Feast (killing enemies with it makes him larger and gives him more HP).

I main this character, can you tell?

Supposedly he's one of the design influences, along with the Carnifex from 40k and the alien from Alien. And the Cthulu Mythos, like all characters connected to the Void.

He's also a very solid character, a tank/nuker hybrid. He recovers health and mana for killing enemy units, has an area of effect ability that launches enemies into the air with spikes and slows them, a scream attack that silences (temporarily preventing enemies from using abilities), a passive ability that makes him shoot out a cloud of spikes when he autoattacks, and of course Feast which does a ton of True damage, meaning it can't be lowered by armor or anything else. Killing enemies with it gives him more HP and makes him bigger, stacking up to six times (he approximately doubles in size with all six stacks), though he loses half of them when he dies.

Today, I've learned that Galio's pretty fun. It's hard to score kills with him, but you get a shitload of assists and his ulti, with a good team, can easily get you an ace (the entire enemy team is dead).

Plus he's a gargoyle.
