Project A.F.T.E.R. Forums _ Project AFTER _ The Summer of AFTER

Posted by: Master of AFTER Jun 7 2015, 05:11 AM

With summer fast approaching and the weather becoming warm and lovely, the obvious way to spend our days is basking in the beautiful sunshine. Right? Wrong. The sun means sweaty clothes, heat stroke, and melanoma. Your best bet for surviving this season is to stay indoors and have a ball on everyone's favorite fanfiction mockery community during The Summer of AFTER!

WHAT?
The Summer of AFTER is a twelve-week celebration of all things PA. Forum members will have several special events to enjoy, including the chance to win fabulous prizes in the form of Amazon gift certificates!

WHEN?
June 7th through August 30th, 2015—twelve straight weeks of good times culminating in Project AFTER's 12th anniversary!

WOOZLE WUZZLE?
That's right folks, you can win Amazon gift certificates just for being active on the Project AFTER Forums. It's like getting free ice cream for being naked in public! On five secret dates during The Summer of AFTER, I'll use a random number generator to pick a lucky forum member from the crowd. Said member will then receive a $10 gift certificate to online superstore Amazon.com via e-mail IF they meet the following criteria:

That last stipulation is where your loyalty will really be rewarded. If you want to win it, you gotta be in it ("it" being the forums, as an active user). Good news though: Each new thread you start will be worth two posts. In other words, if you spent the week making two threads and six replies, you'll totally be eligible for that sweet e-cash.

By the power vested in me by this admin account, I hereby declare The Summer of AFTER officially underway! Put on your coolest pair of shades, mix yourself a Mai Tai or eight, and get ready to party like a mad motherfucker all summer long!

What stopping someone from making 10 posts in quick succession?

Absolutely nothing! If you want to be a crafty sumbitch and make your ten posts all at once at the start of each week, then go for it. Just make sure these are quality posts we're talking about—if you spam a bunch of dumb bullshit and one or more of your posts gets deleted, then you don't get no prize if your number comes up.

Posted by: piehater Jun 7 2015, 05:22 AM

So wait just to make things clear, do you have to make 10 posts once a week, the last seven days, or from June 7th to August 30th?

Suppose today was one of the random selection dates. If your account number came up, I would then look at your post history so see if you've made at least ten posts since May 31st. If you had, you'd receive a $10 Amazon gift certificate; if you'd made less than ten posts, however, then you'd be disqualified and I'd move on to a different member's account. Does that make sense?

Posted by: Beatdoof Jun 7 2015, 05:45 AM

Oh, so essentially you have to be at least active before May 31st, then we have to make at least 10 posts?

Makes sense.

Indeed. We'd better get srarted.

Posted by: Dr. O Jun 7 2015, 09:23 AM

This is the kind of high-content posting you get when gift cards are on the line.

Posted by: MagicConch Jun 7 2015, 09:46 AM

Amazon gift cards, eh? Interesting choice of incentive, I guess I should post more if I want the dough to buy me some http://www.amazon.com/dp/3867877947/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=TRYJ6S6I060X&coliid=ISGCZGHGUUAT5 http://www.amazon.com/Argus-Werewolf-Spanker-S-Croup-ebook/dp/B00SO1G4EI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1433698998&sr=8-1&keywords=argus+the+werewolf+spanker

I'm going to just post my unpublished novel in the Misc. section.

It's called "The Dongs of War"

You best work fast then. Chuck Tingle's already http://www.amazon.com/Space-Raptor-Invasion-Chuck-Tingle-ebook/dp/B00S4B95RQ

That sounds perfect

So what I'm inferring from this contest idea is that it's time to resurrect the Hugbox.

Posted by: Deceiver Jun 7 2015, 07:07 PM

Wow, there's all kinds of nifty shit going on here. Cool.

Hopefully this goes better than the Summer of George did.

That is amazing, I loooooove it. XD

Sounds like a neat contest and a good way to get extra activity!

It's time to announce the winner of our first random drawing! Let me preface this by saying the process of selecting a winner via random number generation took way, way longer than I anticipated. I had to look up more than forty member IDs before I found an account that wasn't deleted, banned, or inactive. A certain somebody could've ended my search earlier, but unfortunately they were a handful of posts shy of the required number. Had this someone only made a few more posts during the past week, they could've scored some sweet e-cash. Such a shame. sleep.gif

So who actually won? The first victory of The Summer of AFTER goes to... Baguette! No loafing around for this one—she brought the heat and kept her post count rising, so now she gets the dough.

Congratulations, Baguette! Please confirm your e-mail address via personal message to receive your prize.

Posted by: oneluckyduck Jun 30 2015, 10:28 PM

Someone almost won? I saw you italicized "one" in "someone", which was obviously neither a mistake nor an innocent bit of formatting, it was a subtle hint. It was me, wasn't it?
I'll never forgive you.

Posted by: Howlitzer Jun 30 2015, 11:37 PM

I know who it is.

Donut do this.

We don't knead another pun-filled thread.

Posted by: Dr. O Jul 2 2015, 03:22 PM

Nonsense, Bong. MoA already handed out the dough, and now it's time for this thread to rise.

Posted by: Xoanon Jul 2 2015, 03:51 PM

We're certainly on a roll now. Though I am frying hard, I fear I won't be able to get in on the ground flour and win some of that sourly-kneeded bread, leaven me looking poolish with nothing but crumbs in my pockets. Pita for me that I can't post as often as I like and really start stuffing up the forum. But it's matzo bad. No matter what, even if my plans don't pan out, I'm sure we'll all have a rootin-gluten good time.

Now if you'll all excuse me I'm off for the golf course; I tortilloff at three.

*breaks mic in half and moonwalks off stage*

You certainly caked on the waffling there. Loabing that entire wafer-thin, fluffy paragraph lavashed and rye-f with buns at us all to say nothing. You and everyone else must think you're all some manna of crackerjack, don't you, you crepes. Hah, what a farlacy. Sorry to put such a damper on you l-oafs, but your efforts are crumpetly half-baked. Can't you do batter than that? I mean, you've barley scraped past the crust of your potential.

Still, I suppose I shouldn't scone you too much. If we wheated out everyone who fell to this kind of thing, naan of us would have anything to chew over; muffin to turnover in our minds or laugh about. Don't worry, I'm not trying to butter you up or anything. I'm merely offering an olaf branch.

Therefore, I propose a toast. May we all continue to break bread with each other forevermore.

Posted by: Master of AFTER Jul 3 2015, 04:59 AM

So that's how you guys want it, huh? Alright then. Everybody line up for spankings.

Posted by: Al_Cone Jul 3 2015, 04:49 PM

I got my warning level raised for making a bad pun in my first year; now the Boss just hands out spankings for them?

Don't know why we're rewarding bad behavior, but okay...

Posted by: Master of AFTER Jul 16 2015, 03:47 AM

Time to give away some more cool cash to combat the summer heat. The winner of the second random drawing for The Summer of AFTER is P "Diddy" Dot Alex! Congratulations, man! You definitely earned this. All those times everyone around you called you a loser for spending so much time on a fifth-rate internet forum, all those times they taunted you, throwing plastic cups at your head and laughing at your tears... Well, guess who's laughing now. That's right, man. It's you.

Please confirm your e-mail address via personal message to receive your prize. smile.gif

Posted by: Beatdoof Jul 16 2015, 08:49 AM

Congrats, P.

Hopefully your Berserk book problems is also handled nicely.

Posted by: Al_Cone Jul 16 2015, 03:39 PM

I think it's clear by now that, for all his talk of impartiality, Alex Barry is simply picking names from a pool of PA elitist old guard. Which is why I'm baffled and insulted that he hasn't chosen me, the elitistest, old-guardyest fuck on here.

Fuck you. I need those twenty dollars in Amazon credit to feed my $.99 T-shirt addiction.

Posted by: P Dot Alex Jul 17 2015, 05:02 AM

Posted by: Master of AFTER Jul 30 2015, 04:54 AM

All hail the King(Man), winner of the third random drawing in The Summer of AFTER! I guess the rich do in fact get richer, because His Royal Freshness has some Amazon money comin' his way. Congratulations, KM. Please confirm your e-mail address via personal message to receive your prize. smile.gif

As for the rest of you lowly peasants, I should invite you all to celebrate with me in light of the fact that post averages have shot up during the month of July... But I won't! I've realized my hunger for posts cannot be sated, and now I only desire more. More posts, I say! MOOOOORRE! Feed this magnificent beast, my comrades! Watch this forum devour everything in its path!

Posted by: KingMan Jul 30 2015, 06:52 AM

So, how does this work? My email account is still current, but do I need to be signed up for Amazon in order to receive the gift certificate?

EDIT: Oh, personal message. Got it. Sorry about that. laugh.gif

EDIT 2: And sent. You got my message, Boss?

Posted by: Master of AFTER Aug 1 2015, 02:31 AM

I sure did. Thanks for your message and your patience. Your prize has been sent!

Posted by: KingMan Aug 1 2015, 01:11 PM

Received it. Many thanks. happy.gif

Posted by: Master of AFTER Aug 10 2015, 05:21 AM

Guess what! It's time for another random drawing! I know how much you guys love these. Unless of course your account number has not yet been picked, in which case these are probably just sort of annoying. The lucky winner of the fourth random drawing of The Summer of AFTER is Xoanon. Congratulations! Please confirm your e-mail address via personal message to claim your prize. smile.gif

There's only one drawing left before the board's summer celebration comes to an end. Will it be you? Not if you just sit there and gawk, fatty. If you want some of that digital dough, you gotta post! Every day of activity on the forums increases your chance of being a winner.

Posted by: Xoanon Aug 10 2015, 07:18 AM

Well shitpost on toast, this has really been my week, hasn't it?

Much obliged, jefe. I've already sent you my confirmation.

Posted by: Master of AFTER Aug 24 2015, 07:37 AM

August 24th, 2015. Today's date marks exactly ten years since the current incarnation of the Project AFTER Forums opened to the public. Since then, hundreds of users have created thousands of new threads and made over a quarter of a million posts. Zowie! Many thanks to everyone who helped make it possible for us to reach this milestone together.

As today is both the community's tenth anniversary and the beginning of the final week in The Summer of AFTER, I'm going to change things up a bit by announcing the date for the fifth random drawing ahead of time: August 28th. You folks will have until the early hours of this Friday to make your requisite number of posts to be eligible for a prize if your account number comes up in the drawing. So get out there and have yourselves some fun. Summer may be nearing its end, but these forums will continue to thrive until the last one of you dies from a heroin overdose sitting on a toilet in a grimy truck stop restroom off the interstate. Until then, live it up!

Posted by: oneluckyduck Aug 24 2015, 09:23 PM

Fuck yeah! *Downs rum, prepares to shitpost*

Posted by: Dr. O Aug 25 2015, 11:36 AM

To be fair, this truck stop has outstanding wifi reception, and I'm at least 80% certain this heroin isn't actually krokodil.

Posted by: Master of AFTER Aug 28 2015, 06:15 AM

As promised, I will now announce the winner of the fifth and final random drawing in The Summer of AFTER. Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for truth"about how Bush did 9/11"ordeal! Congratulations, man. Please confirm your e-mail address via personal message to receive your prize. smile.gif

The Summer of AFTER celebration is nearing its end, but we've still got a few days left to party. Live it up while you can folks, because when August 31st rolls around, I'm selling the domain and closing these boards forever. Haha, only kidding! See? We're having fun!

Posted by: truthordeal Aug 28 2015, 01:02 PM

Oh gosh, this is just such an overwhelming achievement. First and foremost, I want to thank my mom for being very supportive and calling my teddy bear gay, as well as my homeboy Jesus who taught me to walk the righteous path away from drugs, alcohol and incest. I'd also like to give a shout out to my samurai ancestors. I hope I've brought them all a great deal of honor. Finally, I dedicate this victory to the helpless orphans in Nicaragua, without whom I wouldn't have these cruelty free coffee beans every morning.

If there's any lesson to be learned in this, it's that hard work pays off, and that real winners don't watch anime.
