Jul 14 2012, 11:46 PMOnly the Avatar's midi-chlorian count is high enough to master multiple elements, I guess. perhaps they will elaborate that in the second season, if they are going for the spirit world this time. Also, am I the only one who saw this monsters and somehow had to think of something that could have escaped a Miyazaki movie? -------------------- It ain`t no mystery, if it`s politics or history; the thing you gotta know is, everything is showbiz

Honestly, I did see some elements of Miyazaki in the design, but it could have been coincidental. Jul 15 2012, 12:11 AMHonestly, I did see some elements of Miyazaki in the design, but it could have been coincidental. All the same, the monsters look cool. Did not want to implicate I think it was something bad, cause it isn`t. It just proves further how this show is inspired in style by eastern animation. Heck, based on what I see here, we may get a lot of stuff going on in the north. I can`t wait for the season to come out. -------------------- It ain`t no mystery, if it`s politics or history; the thing you gotta know is, everything is showbiz

Sorry if it came across as me suggesting that I thought you thought that was bad. I actually like Miyazaki. By the way, I recently had an incredibly stupid argument over whether or not this show and The Last Airbender qualify as anime. And yes, you can make a good case for both, but the idiot I was arguing with claimed that it's anime because it has good characters and interesting plots. Just... god, I don't even know who the guy is, but I'm willing to bet that he's a huge bloody weaboo. So anyway, what do you guys think? Is this anime or heavily eastern-influenced western animation? -------------------- QUOTE IF YOU DO THAT I'LL CHANGE MY SIG TO... Is this anime or heavily eastern-influenced western animation? seeing how anime is for me just a term to describe japanese animation and this was made in the good old US, I am saying it is an animated show that is only heavily inspired by eastern elements. -------------------- It ain`t no mystery, if it`s politics or history; the thing you gotta know is, everything is showbiz

If you're made in the west, it's Western animation. If you're made in the east, it's anime (or at least in Japan). There's no other argument.

On the subject on the Avatar being the only one being able to master 4 elements, I believe the Avatar is supposed to be a living personification of the Earth and Balance; a deity of sorts sent in by the spirits to keep things in tip-top shape. They need to master the four elements for balance and harmony, and prove that the elements can work together and provide peace.
'Sides, would kinda be OP broken if EVERYBODY knew how to use all four elements. -------------------- "Alright Japan, just stick to sushi, anime and creepy sex things."

Omg does anyone have the slightest clue of when Book 2 comes out? I've suddenly found myself rummaging through Korra stuff via the interwebs and now I'm anticipating the new season. I hope its good with the writers from TLA coming in to work on it. I felt really mixed about this first season and I didn't like the ending. But the second season sounds better with Mako being a cop for whatever reason and this whole deal about dark spirits. (One of them will or may sound like Azula apparently) Actually i'm more interested about these spirits than Mako being a cop.

I read on tumblr it was coming out sometime in March, but I could be wrong. It was like March 24 or sometime around then.
