I'm really REALLY loving a lot of the detail in some of these fights. Especially ones that never really stood out to me in the manga. I haven't watched the newest episode, but Chaka vs Polnareff was aces.

I'm eagerly looking forward to a certain fight involving a Bird later on.

...
And hoping they do part 4.

Why the hell— No. HOW the hell hasn't this show been licensed yet? I'd love to get into this, but I'm not a fan of watching long-running series on Crunchyroll. Besides, an anime like this demands to be viewed in full HD on a properly-equipped entertainment system.

Because anime fans are too busy watching Season 78 of Kawaii Desu Jailbait Shit.

Here's a site that has the first series, no ads.

It has Stardust Crusaders as well.

Don't you get it? If we take all the physically attractive fictional characters and make them hideous, society might lower its standards of beauty enough that all the basement-dwelling human blobs with bad skin will be able to leave their parents' houses without everyone shrieking in terror as they race to the nearest church to repent for their sins.

Yeah, but that place uses the Crunchyroll subs with all the modifications. Seriously, why do NO streaming serves use the Some Stuffs subs?! They're better translated AND don't change fucking names!

Probably because of the issues with all the copyrighted names and how these anime licensing companies seem completely unaware of how all this shit works, legally.

At long last, we finally JoJos! Looks like the first season hits in September. I can't find any info on what studio is bringing it over, but I'll keep looking.

EDIT: Apparently Warner Home Video is publishing this one.

As I've said elsewhere, I'm certain the dub will be excellent, but I know it's going to have all the obnoxious localization changes. I can't get behind this one...

well some of the localization changes are unavoidable due to stand names and the like. if I remember correctly every single Stands name is copyrighted due to them either being a song or a band name.

EDIT: minus The World, but I'm still fairly certain some punk bitch band named one of their songs that just to fuck with people. But I'm not much of a music guy so what do I know.

Doesn't matter. Plenty of other material featuring swaths of music references have been released here unaltered. Guilty Gear has never been touched in a single US Release and it had an entire fucking stage that was an Iron Maiden album cover. The music references in JoJo can't be mistaken to have any connection to any material it names anything after; copyrights can be avoided with much more subtle name alterations than the drastic changes the English localizers for JoJo have been doing; and they'll even change names of characters using a musician's given name. You can't copyright your birth name.

Warner Bros. can eat a dick is what I'm saying.

I think they'd only really change names they don't want take the risk on. Actually wouldn't most of the names used in the manga be safe due to Americas fair use laws? Since only the name is being use for a "parody" purpose not in context of the actual band? Hell isn't that law how starbomb can actually make money off their songs? But I certainly agree that WB can eat it.

Another localization issue; why the fuck did they leave The Ripple untranslated and call it "Hamon"?! Why?! To sound more martial art-y? Only one fucking Ripple master is remotely asian. The strongest Ripple user we see is an American woman. The art is expressly described as being a ripple. It has an alternate universe counterpart called "The Spin". Fans have been calling it "The Ripple" for fucking years. Why is it "Hamon" now?! There ain't a single god damn Japanese character in Parts 1 and 2 of Jojo, why the fuck are we using a Japanese name for this?!

One thing I found weird was that they kept Chaka and Khan intact in their particular episodes... unless I watched SomeStuff's translation by "accident".

I think they can only keep references to artists Warner Bros. has the rights to.

Thanks again for being the ones to pick this license up, Warner Bros.! You fucking cocks!

A little late on this one but it was called hamon in the original stuff. It was translated into ripple for some reason I honestly don't know.

Hamon is the Japanese word for "Ripple".

I'm just confused at this point. I now know that but it muddles what you said in my mind, its seems like your getting annoyed about a localization choice made about a show that WB knows Americans know about and more then likely know the Japanese name for a technique and chose to leave it as the Japanese name for it.

using it like that is kind of like bleach using the japanese name for their attack instead of a translation of the name, it sounds better and people more commonly know it by that name.

but I agree it is odd. since a Tibetan man taught the skill to an Italian who then teaches it to a European man.
