Just watched the first episode of Stardust Crusaders. Holy shit, their budget went through the roof, and they are treating this shit like a god damn Hollywood blockbuster or some shit! The cinematography was fantastic (an anime with a Sorkin-style walk-and-talk?!) and you could just feel the reverence for the source material. They even avoid the usual anime shortcuts (in the airport scene where Holly picks up Joseph, the people in the background going about their business are fully animated). Character models are fully detailed and fluidly animated. This is gonna kick so much ass...

Can't wait for next week, to see what the OP and ED are gonna be!

I second that motion. The animation looks so damn awesome and the character designs look gorgeous.

I like to think the last part of the fight is a reference to how Araki can never settle on a consistent color scheme for his characters.

Now that the setup is finished, we can get into the real meat of part 3. Tower of Gray and Deep Blue Moon both got skipped over in the OVAs, so this'll be the first time they've been animated. I can't wait for next week.

This part's ending is probably my favorite. Even though I'll miss Roundabout, you can really see the bigger budget and production values they have to work with.

I really like that this fansub group also subs the written sound effects.

FWISH

(also I really dig the track that played during Kakyoin's fight with Tower of Gray)

That episode was great, and next week we get Hol Horse and J. Geil!

And I figure I'll post it here too; for anyone who wants better, Crunchyroll-faggotry-free subs, check out http://www.some-stuffs.com for all your Stardust Crusader needs.

On the one hand, that VA lineup seems like it's going to be pretty good. On the other hand, the fact that they're completely skipping over parts one and two bothers me. They're not telling the series correctly!

(Cody would say his own thoughts but I think he's too busy screaming vulgarities into a pillow and vowing vengeance to be coherent...but you can look at his twitter for his thoughts on this before he broke down.)

Maybe it'll be like One Piece relaunching where they broadcast (or "stream" in this case) part 3 while Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency get home releases order proper? Best case scenario I think.
