Okay, I watched the entire series on a whim since the concept kinda hooked me. It's a pretty great show with some nice plottwists. Lunatic is pretty much my favorite character, despite his disappointing lack of screentime. Then again, I guess they sort of made up for it with him personally killing the scumsucker Maverick at the end who thought he could cheat himself out of retribution. Don't get me wrong, I really like Tiger and all, but he kinda lost major brownie-points from me by letting himself get played like a fiddle from his daughter. And speaking of my least favorite character whom I hope dies in a fire gets much less unbearable in the second season if there ever is one (and there'd better fucking be, we still haven't resolved the love-story and the crime syndicate-story), am I the only one who feels that way about her? I mean, how much more of a bitchy little egoist can you be? Granted, Tiger is also to blame for this by constantly making promises (protip: don't make promises you can't keep, especially to someone who constantly wants their way already and who has no business demanding that shit and bossing you around anyway), but why the fuck do I have to subject myself to this episode-long whinefest about how fucking alone she is and how she really needs him despite treating her own father like garbage even after he saved her fucking LIFE when at the end she immediately turns around and wants him to piss off again because he's an "uncool couch potato"?! What the fucking hell?! And don't even get me fucking started about her constantly demanding to not be treated like a child WHEN SHE'S TEN YEARS OLD - and actually less mature than normal children her age AND immediately breaks up conversations she doesn't like, refusing to hear explanations! FUCK!

Other than that, it was good though. Just had to get that off my chest. I generally don't like child-characters in anime because they're so easy to screw up and can get really annoying with a bad writer, but shit, this was the worst one yet for me.

Did you forget that she was the first one to run to her dad's defense when he was framed and ran to save her dad before he was attacked by the other heroes? If that's not redeeming, IDK what is.

And why are you taking the 'couch potato' comment so seriously? Dude, now that Kaede knows what Kotetsu does, she probably just wants him to continue saving lives because she knows that's what he loves doing best. She probably saw that he was unhappy sitting around at home and in her own way, gave her blessing for him to return to work.

I don't think your hatred of Kaede is justified enough. Sure, she can be bratty, but dude. She's a ten year old child whose parents basically aren't even in her life. Cut her a break.

Name me one even vaguely normal child who wouldn't do the same for their father unless he was a gigantic douchebag. Sure, not many children would immediately run away from home to go to a gigantic city on their own accord, but that's supposed to be a good thing? Never mind that everything worked out through a series of incredible lucky streaks, she had no plan at all. If everything didn't fall perfectly into place, she would have been useless at best and put herself needlessly in danger at worst. So it's a foolish and immature reaction. I shouldn't judge kids by the standards of adults? Indeed I shouldn't. And that's why kids shouldn't be treated like them either, no matter how much they demand it.

Yes, that "in her own way" is exactly what I have a problem with, even if I buy your interpretation completely. It's still an asshole-thing to say, even if you don't mean it. Am I just viewing this from the wrong angle? Is it so damn hard for a kid to just be honest about their feelings without some catty bullshit mixed in? Certainly wasn't for me when I was one.

Doesn't seem to matter too much, does it? I mean, either you're afraid of being alone or you're not. The fact that Tiger happens to work as a hero doesn't change that one iota. So if she actually is satisfied with just seeing him occasionally, then I don't need to subject myself to scene after scene of her bitching at him because he never shows up.
Anyway, hating a character doesn't really need to be justified per se, but I outlined my reasons anyway. Since they are subjective, I can't expect you to buy them. Some might, some might not. I'm just saying that she annoys the piss out of me personally - it wouldn't bug me if someone thought that she's the most endearing thing since Kirby, though I would definitely disagree. As for cutting her a break - uh, no. To quote Shmeckie: "I'm the audience, she's not real. You can't excuse an element of entertainment that fails to entertain and she fails to entertain. She is a chore to watch." He said that about Asuka from NGE, but here it pretty much sums up my personal feelings on her.
So. Rant over. Now onto other matters, since I have made every point I wanted to make and if one doesn't find my reasons persuasive, there is no sense in arguing since they're merely based on my feelings anyway and attempting to convince someone to feel a completely different way about this would be a fool's errand.

I kinda wish they would have expanded on Lunatic's hallucination of his dead father a bit. It could have been a really great little side-story along the main plot that shows us a bit more of his inner conflict about his definition of justice and if he's truly doing the right thing or not. Or maybe they're saving that for the next season?

Hey man, if that's your opinion, that's fine. I'm just rebutting. To be honest, I hated Kaede a lot as well, but as the series went on, she became a more likable character to me.

And for the Lunatic part, guess we'll just have to wait till Season 2. Speaking of which, when is coming out? I can't seem to find an exact date, unless one hasn't been set yet.

EDIT: About the mature part, I realized you meant that she acted like she should be treated older. I was thinking that you said that she was immature. My bad.
