The talk about SSX Tricky made me want to go back a replay my copy (after not playing it for about two years). It's interesting how your perceptions of a game change. I still enjoy the game a lot though it's made me realize that Lucy Liu should not do voice acting unless she's playing herself. Elise's (her character) voice gets really annoying after a while.

I wouldn't call it a very old game, but I still love my copy of Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg. I don't play video games much anymore, but that's one of the few I do play. Also, I'm amazingly kickass at it, despite abandoning it for almost 5 years in a box in my garage, thus forgetting the controls.

There are a bunch of games I don't touch for long periods of time and eventually come back to unless I dislike/wasn't too interested in the game.
I don't think there are any games I haven't played in over a year and a half when I had the ability to do so (as in games lended out to friends don't count; That reminds me, I need to get my GC and copy of Tales of Symphonia back from a friend whose had them for probably 2 years now). Metal Gear Solid 2. I periodically chip away at the VR missions in the hope that I can someday finish them all.
I also recently replayed FFX. It was better than I remembered it, though maybe that's because I was so disappointed with FFXII. A few years ago I picked Super Mario Sunshine back up - too bad now it's stuck in my old Wii that was friend by electrical storms. I can't get it out.

I usually hook up the old SNES once or twice a year, and spend a weekend going through the old games. A Link to the Past is always fun, and I can beat it in two or three days, and I usually go through Run Saber's 2 player mode with whichever friend I haven't played it with yet.

Funny that I've never played through A Link to the Past. Actually, I haven't played through any 2D Legend of Zelda game outside of The Minish Cap and Four Swords Adventure. I have played Oracle of Seasons, but that was long ago and at that time, I sucked too badly to accomplish much. For some reason, I really liked going to the Dark World (or whatever it was called in that game).

Reminds me that I just have to beat Vaati's third form to beat Minish Cap. His first two are easy, but I'm rather close to beating it. As for Link to the Past, we all have a family file, and we just need the last crystal.
Also with Billy Hatcher, I just have to beat Dark Raven (which I once came close to before dying) in order to win. The thing that got me in The Minish Cap is that you really are being timed when you have to go through those three rooms to save Zelda. One time, I was taking way too long to get through the room with the three Darknuts (who are very annoying in this game, especially the stronger ones and those with shields) and got a game over. I honestly thought this was one of those moments where something terrible was going to happen, but I'd always arrive to prevent it just as it was about to happen no matter how long it takes me to do so. One of the reasons I thought that is because the bell rang every time you went into a new room. It wasn't until after I got a game over that way that I realized that the bell would ring earlier if I took too long in any room. They could've put a timer somewhere onscreen...
Oh, and I just remembered that Dark Hyrule Castle is probably my favorite final area in any Zelda game I've played, period. Not only is it much longer and cooler looking that the others, but the music is awesome (nice remix of the King of Hyrule's theme from Wind Waker) and the place, in my opinion, is much more difficult to get through both because the puzzles are more difficult and the enemies were tougher to get past. I still have my Gamegear, and my first Gameboy. I have a ton of old games, too. I still play Mischief Makers from time to time. I like SMW as well, I've beaten every level too. At least three times in my childhood.
I have the horrible game known as Mario is Missing. Goddamn is it terrible. I didn't even know what to do at certain points. I play through about half of the games in my SNES collection on a semi-regular basis, and just recently I had to satisfy this strange, sudden urge to play Super Mario 64. I've been putting some time into that game almost every day for about a week now... This is after a similarly impulsive desire to go through Pokémon Blue for the GameBoy again, even though I haven't played or seriously thought about a Pokémon game in north of six or seven years.
I think I've finally gotten so sick of my life that I'm subconsciously trying to go back in time to the last point where I remember feeling genuinely happy, which would probably be about the time when these games were first coming out. Now that I think about it, I believe this goes a lot deeper than merely being a wanting for brief periods of nostalgic indulgence. I currently have so few connections with anything from the past due to friends moving away and pets dying and childhood hangouts being demolished and everything changing so drastically that these video games are one of the few tangible links I have to my childhood that remain completely unchanged from the way I remember them. By playing these games now, I'm providing myself with a way to temporarily escape into my memories of a time when I felt more secure and relaxed, thus ending my present cycle of constantly dreading the future (if only for a couple hours at a time). ^ Random, probably-bullshit psychobabble left here for my own reference. I just went back to playing Lineage 2. But my roommate always uses the PC so I can't always play it and use the PS3 instead. Other than Blazblue and Soul Calibur 4, I've been playing Heavenly Sword again. Good game if you ask me, short as fuck though.

After reading this thread I decided to look through some of my old PS1 games. It took only a few minutes before I realized how much I had gotten used to using the right analog stick for camera control. Disruptor is near impossible without it.
