I just watched the season three finale of Korra.

Wow. What a downer.

The episode is still very well writen. Zaheer and his crew are in my opinion good villains just on the basis of what powerhouses they are and the level of fanatism they can express in regard of their ideas. Also the fights in the episode are awesome and probably the best in the entire franchise so far. But dear lord, Korra. The poor girl.

I am suggesting watch it for yourself, but save to say that I did not expect the show who so far always tried to end the seasons on more positive notes and had such a energetic (although sometimes also whinny) character as protagonist to let her end up as such an emotionally exhausted mess.

I so hope this is not how the show as such ends and there is a fourth season perhaps coming cause damn, that is really a bittersweet till depressing note to end it.

Son of a BITCH...! I mentioned this show in a recent conversation in the Crazy-Ass News Stories thread, specifically that I was under the impression that the Avatar rotated genders after every reincarnation, in line with the yin/yang theme. Turns out I made that up; my subconscious corrected me by putting the theme song in my head ("Earth, Fire, Air, Water...son of a bitch, it was Kyoshi, THEN Roku!? Ah yeah, that's right..."). The Chinese themes have been somewhat inconsistent from the beginning (the 5 Chinese elements are earth, fire, metal, water, and wood, for example), but damn it that would've been a nice touch. XD

I'm really enjoying the new season so far! I feel like the first season was the weakest of the bunch, getting better and better with each season. And seeing Toph again was sweet, like seeing an old friend. Have been really enjoying Korra's psychological/spiritual journey this season so far, am thinking that the other Korra might be a spirit guiding her. Don't know if it's on her side yet or not, though I'm leaning toward "on her side".

An old friend that whoops your ass and has fun with it. Was great to watch, but I seriously hope that Korra will manage to get over it. That said, I will give the show really credit for how they show Korra and her issues following the events of the s3 finale. They don't go overdramatic, showcasing that she still has the will to fight, but also that she is sincerely traumatized by all that happened. Seriously, the second episode of season 4 may so far be one of my favorites next to the one about the first avatar.

And is it just me or is the Earth Kingdom pretty much going to turn into an allegory for either nazi germany or sowjet russia, if not both, thanks to Kuvira?

Eh Korra was likable in the second half of season 2 (ager regaining her memory she was actually fairly courteous) and from what I've heard she was actually cool in the third season (when she does get annoyed it's against assholes like the earth queen who honestly have it coming). Wan was also interesting; he fucked up but not only showed willingness to make amends but put his money where his mouth was (he actively tried to set things right and was willing to stare down the king of evil, which if anything takes balls of steel.) As annoying as the spirits thing was, he never forsake his human friends (he tried to find a non violent solution, and his attempt at separating spirit and human worlds was an attempt to avoid bloodshed). Part of the tragedy was he never fixed his mistake.

Won't argue mako though; the most we got was that he kinda owned up to being an asshole in the season 2 finale and actually became tolerable when spotlight wasn't on him, but yeah. Douchebag extrodinare.

Bolin: He called mako out on his bullshit after mako lied to an amnesiac korra, and thwarted the kidnapping attempt on the president. That gives him some points.

Asami: Actually cool. She stood against her own father to protect her friends (which if anything makes Mako more of a douchebag), and is pretty resourceful. Overall I'm glad they didn't go with the original plan for her to be evil all along.

...HOW THE FUCK DID YOU NOT REALIZE WE WERE BEING FACETIOUS?!

Okay, just to eliminate all possible doubt on the matter: We LIKE these characters. I'm a bit lukewarm as far as Mako in the first season goes, but still. Varrick really is the best waifu Husbando, though.

Suddenly, that whole "tapping in the memories of your predecessors"-thing became a whole lot more awkward, huh? Well, except for those related to Wan, of course.

So would that mean Korra could actually go on tumblr and say she is transgender in Spirit and it would not be bullshit?

otherwise, I am glad that others are now also up to date with the Show. as for best villain, I am right now tending to consider Kuvira being a magnificent bitch. The way she fought just from the get go in the beginning of s4 was awesome.

Okay yeah I jumped the gun. I have seen people who honestly criticize the show use literally the same reasons Max did. the waternigga thing was a joke yeah, but the others did just seem like every other blog criticizing the show

PS I just realized.......six out of seven primary villains were killed off for real (the three red lotus guys, unalaq, amon and tarlokk). Damn I'm still amazed they got the murder suicide past the censors.

Replace any criticism I had at LordYam now that he modified his post with some random shit. In that regard, have something form New York Comic Con regarding the Korra videogame.

Yes, when I do a serious critique of a show, I use phrases like "loli mary sue", "supports turbo-Hitler" and "semen demon". Not to mention I reference horrible Avril Lavigne-songs (redundant, I know), the idiotic concept of "betas" and this:
