In six days, every single cell on the earth will be dead. You have one chance.

You'll see as you play.

But I can already see a lot of people are not really going to like it.

A game that you literally cannot play more than once is a really terrible idea.

I haven't actually played it yet since I'm taking care of stuff, but VW just reminded me of You Only Live Once. Similar concept: Win or lose, you can only play the game once and hitting retry just shows more of what happens after your death, ending the scenes with "Game Over" again, until there are no more scenes.

That is unless you can find the location of the game's save file on your hard drive and delete it.

Well, you need to have some kind of gimmick because "only" trying to do a good job just isn't enough anymore if you want to be recognized by anybody.

I actually like this game. This is one of those games that you can use to argue that videogames can be art.

Though it does blow that you're stuck with the ending you get and there's no way to restart it unless you delete your flash cookies. Buth that's the whole point of it.

See, I don't like the idea of deleting all of them. I play flash games with save files frequently and having all of my data go bye-bye isn't fun, which is why I prefer looking for the actual save file itself.

Ha, I managed to find the cure! Hard work seems to pay off after all. Although the gimmick (some sort of poison destroying all life) is pretty stupid.

Where could I find the save file? I know I'm supposed to live with my choices, but fuck that.

Deleted my cookies, but I'm still stuck in the lab, alone. Guess I'll have to try again on one of my library's computers.

It's probably your flash cookies, which are separate.

Where's the fucking run button!?

EDIT: Okay, I got what I guess you would call the "bad" ending. It's not a terrible idea for a game and I thought it pulled off the atmosphere tremendously well, but some of the design decisions bug me a bit. The description for the game says: "One Chance is a game about choices and dealing with them." That's not entirely true, since a couple of times I missed out on the opportunity to work because the game never gave me the option to. How was I supposed to know that going up to the roof would lead to the guy jumping and me missing a day of work?

The idea of the choices you make having real lasting consequences is an intriguing one, but in order for that to work, you have to actually be penalized/rewarded for making decisions yourself and not the game making arbitrary decisions for you. Punishing players for poor judgment is one thing; punishing them for an unlucky virtual dice roll is something else. Perhaps the creators were trying to make some statement about life being unfair and how unforeseeable events sometimes make your situation "unwinnable" or whatever, but honestly I just kind of felt like the game designer was giving me the finger for my inability to read his mind.

OC is an interesting experiment, but with the artistic elements and the message taking such obvious precedence over what little interactivity there is, I think the creators probably would have been better off just making a Flash movie instead of a game.

I tried again on another computer and found that if you try to work instead of seeing the suicidal guy, it says that the door is locked. So you have to watch him jump and miss work that day. Also, on the third day, you can go back downstairs after talking to your boss and one of your co-workers will tell you he's got a key if you want to work.

Oh, and I found out how to start a new game! Right click, go to settings and a flash player settings menu will pop up. Go to the tab that has a folder with an arrow pointing to it. There will be a slider bar that asks how much data you want stored. Move it down to zero and refresh. New game!

MoA: I agree with you whole-heartedly (especially when the creator is so stubborn on not letting you replay).
